Max Factor for Effortless Makeup

Angela Manners tries out and reviews Max Factor Makeup
Max Factor

Remember that ad? The one that said “Max Factor: the Makeup for Makeup Artists”? Perhaps now I’m showing my age but truly, the brand’s heritage goes all the way back to the 1914’s when Max Factor created the first makeup for film. I’m not THAT old but neither am I a makeup artist. Luckily the Max Factor range for today is effortless and beautiful.

Max Factor

We interviewed Max Factor’s Muse, Diana Ser and Maureen Abenoja, Director of Consumer Beauty for Coty, for a bit of inspiration, however, I was equally thrilled to be able to try out Max Factor’s range of multi-tasking makeup products and put them to the test.

For me, time is of the essence and a product that works quickly and beautifully is needed otherwise I won’t even bother! I’ll confess having to look up how to apply a few of these items on YouTube… Yes, it’s been THAT long ;). Here’s what I thought.

Face

Max Factor

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation (RRP SGD$29.90) is a wonderful 3 in 1 foundation that glides on smoothly and blends quickly. I love that it has three benefits – primer, concealer and foundation all in one. An added bonus is that it has SPF20 to help protect your skin too. It didn’t feel too sticky as a long wear, it lasted all day… When I say, all day, I mean it… I was outdoors at various sporting activities (not my own!) for the entire day and it still looked great by the time I got home for dinner.  That is awesome given the hot and humid weather we have here in Singapore.

Max Factor

Max Factor Miracle Glow Duo Pro Illuminator (RRP SGD$20.90) has two sections and at first, I was at a bit of a loss… A quick view of a video tutorial and I was sold. This handy and portable little circle allows you to further spot-cover blemishes and highlight different areas (using the side on the left) and then contour like a pro (using the side on the right). It was easy to apply and really added a bit of radiance. I loved the dewy look it gave to my skin.

Max Factor

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush (RRP SGD$15.90) is oh-so-pretty. Brushed onto my cheeks with a kabuki brush in circular motions, it looked completely natural and just added a tiny bit of subtle sparkle to my face. I love these.

Eyes

Max Factor Masterpiece Nudes Eye Shadow

I received three shades of Max Factor Masterpiece Nude Palettes (RRP SGD$27.90) – Cappuccino Nudes, Golden Nudes and Rose Nudes. In truth, I don’t think I need that many nudes (or do I? 😉 )! But they were all beautiful. Even with just one range, you have all the colours you need to really add definition and highlight to your eyes. The colour impact is sensational and they glide on beautifully and blend into each other effortlessly.

Lips

The only tricky product for me was the Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Colour (RRP SGD$22.90). Only because I made the mistake (in my excitement) of painting it on thickly over super dry lips! This was a disaster because I was out and about before I realised and being a long-wear lip colour, it did not come off. However, this was totally my error. Once I properly primed and moisturised my lips and then only applied a very thin layer, it was beautiful. Lipfinity comes with a wand for the 24-hour lip colour and another stick with a clear, moisturising top coat. When applied properly, it has staying power, doesn’t make your lips feel tight and looks gorgeous. I took along the top coat with me in my bag to reapply as needed.
