When my husband of over 20 years (definitely revealing my age here!) said to me “your skin is looking nice“, I knew I was on to a good thing. This was the case with CANVAS Beauty. I had already read through Nadia Chan’s interview and had been gifted their Brightening Concentrate and Brightening Clay Mask (thank you, CANVAS Beauty!). These I had started using immediately. However, because I love pretty things and really wanted to give more CANVAS Beauty products a try, I went ahead and ordered their Rose Quartz Roller and Rose Otto Travel Kit for myself online. This all arrived in a couple of days with a sweet, hand-written note. Something you don’t see very often anymore – something personal and written by hand.

In the Rose Otto Travel Kit are Overnight Intense Moisture Mask, Micellar Cleansing Water Gel and Pure Rose Otto Hydrosol (SGD$53.00)

I may have mentioned in a previous post that I often find organic beauty products too strong and overpowering in smell. I know, I know… They’re supposed to! It goes to show how beautifully botanical they are but frankly, I’m not a fan of strong scents. This is probably why I choose the Rose Otto kit for my own purchase – in the hopes that it would smell lighter and more rose-y (a smell I do enjoy). Thankfully, it did… and also came with a lovely, floral-inspired bag perfectly sized for travel. A few days earlier, I had started with the CANVAS Beauty Brightening Concentrate and Mask. These do smell like organic products but not so overpowering that I wouldn’t want to use them.

Here’s what I thought of the CANVAS Beauty products.

Rose Otto Micellar Cleansing Water Gel

Canvas Beauty

I’ve gone through perhaps 5 types of micellar cleansing lotions from different brands. This is all because I really am lazy when it comes to skincare. Anything that claims to be multi-tasking and allows me to skip steps in between, I’ll be happy to try! However, all of them have fallen short, whether it be with me breaking out with huge zits or just not enjoying the smell. I was interested to see how this one would fare.

The CANVAS Beauty Micellar Cleansing Water Gel is light and refreshing. It does the job and cleanses the skin while being mild enough so my face doesn’t sting. There is a note on the instructions that say to rinse well with water afterwards, a step that I thought micellar waters weren’t supposed to need and usually when I try something like this it’s because I can cleanse my face while crawling into bed and not worry about it anymore. Perhaps this is why most micellar waters haven’t worked for me. I followed the instructions from CANVAS and never had any problems with my skin. This is something that would travel well and be easy to use while on the go.

Pure Rose Otto Hydrosol

Canvas Beauty

Give me something in a hydrosol and you’ll be greeted with delight! Why? Because… and here it comes again… it helps me skip steps! I don’t have to go find a cotton pad and douse it with liquid before wiping it on my face then discarding it. All I have to do is lightly mist my face with this hydrosol and I am toned and rehydrated. I LOVE this. It smells beautiful, cools down my face and gets me ready to go. Give me more, please!

Rose Otto Overnight Intense Moisture Mask

Canvas Beauty

This is what I had on my face the entire night before my husband made his comment about my skin. Can you believe it? It’s very light and cooling as it goes on and I love that you can leave it on all night and then rinse it off in the shower the next morning. It must have been a miracle gel because hardly do I ever get comments about how I look. The only thing I would say is to try and let it dry a little before putting your face on your pillow for obvious (slightly sticky) reasons. 😉 Also note that it may not have been the mask by itself that garnered my compliment. It may have been the combination of all the CANVAS Beauty products put together.

This leads me to the Rose Quartz Roller (SGD$32)

Canvas Beauty

An item I have seen on a quite a few Instagram pics. I just wanted to see how it worked and there was the added bonus of being pretty and “prop-worthy”. I was told after a few days of use that Rose Quartz as a crystal works in opening the heart. I don’t know if this is true or not but it is such a pretty implement to use. Being made of crystal, it’s cooling to the skin and feels like you’re giving your face a mini-massage.  There are two rollers, a larger one and a smaller one so you can really cover your entire face and neck. You can use it with any products in the range but I quite like to use it on its own sometimes, just to pep me up a bit.

Perfect White Renew Brightening Concentrate (SGD$62)

Canvas Beauty

I had been using this serum for a few days before that fateful comment by my hubby so, in fact, I could probably credit this over most of the other products. While all the CANVAS Beauty products are amazing, this one seems to provide the most dramatic results. On application, instantly, my face feels smoother, more supple and clearer. Perhaps I don’t need to use it morning and night because it seems to be so powerful as a concentrate but I do because it works so well.

Perfect White Renew Brightening Clay Mask (RRP$23.75)

Canvas Beauty

Ah, the final product. I would like to say that I followed Nadia’s advice on taking some “me-time” and using this mask to enable me to do so. Yes, there was one evening that this actually happened. I relaxed for fifteen minutes with the mask on my face, relishing every quiet moment that I could squeeze out of the process. It was heavenly! But then the few other times I have been sat at my desk working away while the mask did its work. And work it does! Washing it off with lukewarm water reveals a fresh, clean face and a lovely smooth complexion.

Thank you CANVAS Beauty for the opportunity to try your products and interview Nadia as well!
